Wild At Heart

Wild At Heart | Photographed by me | Creative Directed & Styled by Chanel

I'm currently writing this an hour before I'm posting it. It's finally my birthday month & I'm so excited for Christmas. I can't believe the year has gone so quick but I can not wait to start a new year with new opportunities and new goals.

I'm currently in second year at uni on my fashion styling & photography course with photography as my chosen specialism and I'm so glad to make it to the end of the first term in one piece because second year is a mission I was not prepared for.
My friend Chanel asked me to collab with her and shoot her uni project editorial and I have to say, even though I say this after most shoots, I'm so happy with the outcome and this is some of my favourite work so far! I love the creative direction behind it based on the 70s and being free, add Highgate Woods to the equation and the 'Wild At Heart' editorial comes to life. She explains the shoot idea more here

I have also added my favourites to my portfolio online so please have a look there too.

N A V Y

Boyfriend Coat - New Look | Top & Joggers - Zara | Ring - eBay

I heard that black and navy didn't go together. I beg to differ.
I've been overly stressed at uni for the past couple weeks trying to figure out how I was going to make my deadline which meant I didn't have time to blog. However being a fashion student, photography & styling to be specific, I have the excuse to shop for educational purposes. So there I was in New Look looking for shoot clothing & this coat caught my eye. I'm not sure if I bought it for my project or myself initially but I kept it either way. It's such a nice deep shade of navy & goes really nicely with black clothing most surprisingly (link provided above). These joggers are my favourite trousers at the moment, we thank Zara for making them happen. Pockets that fit your hands in too, bonus!

Sidetracked

Bomber - Bershka | Top & Bag - Zara | Jeans - Topshop Joni | Nike Thea Premiums

Sometimes people make bad decisions in life. Whoever placed my uni library next to Zara, however, did not.
For my uni project, I'm currently planning a whole shoot based around the oversized trend; big coats & knitwear. So I popped into Zara in Oxford Street to see what they had to offer. Somehow during that time I ended up in the changing room trying on clothes irrelevant to my shoot. It happens. I got some quick OOTD pics before I left to sell my bank accounts soul to Zara, nothing too exciting. My usual black joni jeans, nike theas  and a black top from Zara which looks like their staff top. Oh and yet another bomber jacket. Yeah, that happened too.

Misc Mondays | Better People, Better Person

My new years resolution this year was to 'Do Better'.
In my mindset, in my work, in general. I'm trying to be a better person for myself just to have more positive & less stressful days and this quote speaks truth. Negative people & bad influences do not contribute well to you becoming a better person. People that channel negative energy around you continuously aren't needed. I am so grateful for the people in my life that continuously show me support & praise my achievements as well as those that generally make me a happy person, they really help to live my spirit on my worst days. Strive to surround yourself with people who motivate you and make you want to do better. Whether that be people with similar interests, who you can work with, people who make you feel happy & not bad about yourself or just friends who are always encouraging you and supporting you.

It may not be the only way to get better but it's a good start.

Misc Mondays | Kaytranada

photos c/o google images

Kaytranada.Producer & DJ.
If soundcloud has a secret most played list for my account it would probably have a load of songs by Kaytranada. This guy never fails to impress me when it comes to his mixes. He's remixed songs by Disclosure, MNEK, Amerie, Teedra Moses and more which I find myself listening to way more than the originals. If there is a male DJ I would highly recommend at the moment this guy is definitely my favourite! Just check out his soundcloud for
good music, good vibes and he also has songs he's produced (Reva DeVito - Friday Night is a personal fav) which are worth checking out.
Links & some favs below.

Camel Coat Season

   Coat - eBay | Basic Tee - H&M | Jeans - 'Joni' Topshop |Boots - River Island

eBay is the real MVP right now. My watchlist is forever increasing because of things like this.
In my search for a new camel coat I came across this and instantly had to watch it. Don't sleep on those sellers in China guys. This cost me around £40. and was worth it. The collar can turn up to reveal a black underneath and the coat becomes a whole other style. Don't be surprised if I live in it for the next few weeks. The material is such good quality, a soft furry texture & the length is perfect as well. Ugh. I could go on all day about it, believe that.
I can't even deal, let me stop typing..

Primark Prints #2

 Print Bomber - Primark | Jeans - Topshop 'Joni' | Rings - eBay/Primark

Bomber jackets are slowly becoming a favourite of mine.
This was another purchase made whilst in Primark looking for some bits before I went back to uni. It was reduced to £10 and I could not leave it behind. I've been in love with patterned bombers so much lately and this one is so lightweight, perfect for warmer days. On my first day back to uni I actually wore this outfit but with a black tshirt & black snood instead of the vest because UK weather don't play! I love that it has plain sleeves and then the rest is patterned. I never saw this before it was reduced, where is Primark hiding things like this! It matches my new blue stone ring I got off eBay which, along with the snake ring, are my new favourite jewellery pieces and guys, black joni jeans do wonders for your legs. Thank me later!

Alternative Fashion Find #3

So don't get me wrong, I love Zara.
I've seen this coat quite a bit on YouTube and Tumblr and I love the style of it but it's a tad pricey. So in my usual ebay searches I came across something in a similar style for those who are looking for a cheaper alternative. God bless those asian sellers. Now this is different in some ways but it's still a camel wrap coat and I actually like this one more. It's also more than half the price of Zaras which means you can save some money. I couldn't find a photo of the coat that wasn't watermarked so this will have to do.

eBay alternative link 1 & link 2  - £44

This is currently residing in my eBay watch list with the potential of being purchased sometime soon. It comes to around £44 and it comes in black. Can't really go wrong there. Bare in mind though that it will only go to a certain size because it is based on asian sizes but worth a try I think the biggest size is XL which should come to 96cm bust & 40cm on the shoulders. I've added two links just in case so check both.
Hope this is helpful, haven't done one of these posts in ages.

Primark Prints

 Shirt & Rings - Primark | Watch - eBay

Nobody should be sleeping on Primark when they produce shirts like this.
I'm not always a fan of patterned/print shirts, leaves me feeling a bit Alfie Moon. This shirt was from Primark's summer stock but at the time I wasn't sure if I could pull it off. Then it sold out and I wanted it again. So little old me went to Primark the other day to get some bits & lowe and behold there was ONE just hanging up on it's own, waiting for me of course. It's a bit big but I can do oversized shirt or tuck it in. I actually love it so much and will be wearing it in Autumn/Winter because it isn't jumpers & coats time just yet. I also picked up a printed bomber jacket which I MIGHT post in addition to this post.

PFW - Balmain S/S'15 RTW

First of all, Olivier Rousteing is such a babe & has the most incredible jawline so there's always love for him.
His collection was full of monochrome tones with pops of colour here and there. Personally the coloured pieces weren't a favourite of mine but I did love these three pieces. The white trousers are heaven sent, the fit of the waistband alone is everything, I wish all trousers fitted me like that. The white top which looks like three horizontal bands finishes it off making an all white outfit that even I would wear & I'm not a fan of all white at all. I noticed alot of grid style detail in the clothing & loved this monochrome zip piece, also with the added belt it creates curves. The blazer I mainly loved because I'm a huge fan of anything sheer, mesh, organza style. It's something different I haven't seen before which I love and it's black...Perfect!
The show featured some of my favourite models also; Jourdan Dunn, Joan Smalls & Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Balmain wins!

LFW - Jackie JS Lee S/S'15 RTW

The thing I love about Fashion Week is discovering new designers I never knew about before. Jackie JS Lee is one. I loved the simplicity of some of her designs especially the jumpsuits. These were three of my top favourites from this season's show but there are a few others that I also loved. I read that she doesn't usually use prints in her work opting for more minimalist pieces but I think she worked it so well into her garments. I'm loving the deep blue colour that she chose as well. The whole colour scheme of the collection was me all over, she even threw some pastel pieces in there which was a great contrast. She's definitely one I'll be watching more often at fashion week.

LFW - Topshop Unique S/S'15 RTW

One of my favourites from LFW this year was Topshop Unique S/S'15 mainly for the colour palette and these three looks. The first one was a personal fav because I loved the colour blue of the skirt or skort, I'm not sure, it was such a cute little outfit, I wasn't a fan of the fit of the jacket though. Secondly, this playsuit! It's like a large white shirt but in playsuit form, so perfect! This caught my eye as soon as it hit the runway! I'm hoping this is a playsuit though and not a two piece but I need it is everything. Lastly, don't I love a camel coat. I'm so glad to see this somewhere on a runway because that justifies me buying a new one and wearing it 24/7. This is not the style I would usually go for but I love how clean and simple it is with the four buttons down one side. Also Cara Delvigne starting and ending the show with a cheeky smirk, loved that!

LFW S/S'15 Day1

London Fashion Week is here. It's Day 3 today and so much has already happened. I decided to head down to Somerset House on the first day to embrace the street style which is my favourite aspect every time. It was alot hotter than I expected that day, I mean I wore alot of black which is normal but I seriously underestimated the heat levels. Nonetheless I saw a few styles that I liked enough to snap. I must admit I didn't see as much as I usually do but I did enjoy the vibe. I've falled in love with that womans grey dress, I need that in my life! I also saw some other lovely bloggers whilst there and a few of us went to the Radio Bar Media Lounge at the ME London Hotel to chill for a bit. That place has such a lovely view, I would love to go back there for a night out.

Greyscale

 Jumper - H&M |Jeans - Topshop "Leigh" | Clutch - Primark | Watch - eBay | Nike Thea Premium

So I pretty much live in greyscale tones. My type of scale.
This jumper is one of my favourites, I love the fit especially on the arms. I bought it to go with some joggers I also bought from H&M, but I sold them on depop recently because they came up too short. It comes in a few other colours and is great for a plain casual look especially with jeans and trainers. I also live in these trainers. I keep seeing people with Nike Theas on YouTube and they really are as great as they all make out, so comfortable and great for everyday or just gym. These are one of the premium designs so they don't sell them anymore but they have so many others in Office at the moment. This outfit would be good to wear back to school/college/uni which I'll probably do when I go back.

The A/W transition begins...

I love how the high street enables you to purchase things that are similar to the sometimes extortionate priced branded items designers expect us to buy. I don't think you have to buy something just because its the original if there's nothing special/unique about it to be honest.
I've been wanting a new pair of Timberlands for a while, I just sold my old pink ones on Depop, but I wasn't prepared to spend so much. So I was so happy to see these in Primark  for £15 and they actually come in navy and a dark biege colour but I only picked up a black pair for A/W.
Primark and New Look are the best for shoe dupes at the moment.

Another Nude

 Barry M "Nude"

I have a new favourite nude nail polish. Compared to my GOSH one this is more of a neutral nude rather than biege toned. It needs a few coats for it to actually have an effect but I love the finish. It reminds of acrylic nails before they put the polish on. I wore it on my false nails which are a natural colour and combined with this it made them look even more natural. This is a great everyday polish if you don't like bold colours. I underestimated this one. I want to attempt coffin shaped nails but I'm still learning how to shape them.

A Little Missguided

Bomber Jacket - Missguided | Bodysuit - Primark | Jeans - "Joni" Topshop | Converse - Office

This jacket is a masterpiece in itself. The print is mirrored in such beautiful colours and the jacket itself is a scuba material. I feel like I'm wearing somebodys art work. I saw Sarah Ashcroft wearing it in her recent YouTube video and I fell in love instantly. I had to have it. So imagine how happy I was when I found out Missguided had a discount code for 50% off selected items and this was one! £29.99 to £14.99. They were basically encouraging me. I ordered it Monday morning and it arrived two days later much to my delight. I wanted a nice bomber jacket I can wear out and to uni, this one is perfect and I just might live in it. This is probably how I would style it for uni or casually, I also styled it on my polyvore account (day 'n' night).

My laptop is being a bum so I haven't been able to get pictures from my camera to blog. When my student loan comes in, a macbook is definitely on the agenda as well as a new camera. A 600d or 700d, I need that flip screen in my life, so necessary *JayZ voice*.

D A I S I E S

Products used: Miss Sporty Black Nail Polish, Rio Yellow & White Nail Art Polishes and Dotting tool.

Daisies seem to be a big thing right now. I keep seeing them on a lot of clothing and that reminded me of this nail art that I saw a while ago and have been wanting to try for ages. I think it went okay for a first attempt, even though it smudged a little. I'm not a fan of black nails so I didn't do it on my own nails instead I used my nail display wheel.

I painted the nail black first, took about 3 coats to get it thick enough, then i poured a little of the yellow and white polish into a pot (seperated) and used the dotting tool to make the circles. I've had dotting tools for a while now, I got 5 for 99p from eBay and they actually work really well, you just dip them into the polish and simply make dots.

Product Spotlight: Olive Oil Heat Protector

ORS Olive Oil Heat Protection Hair Serum

I'm not usually one to share hair products on my blog mainly because there aren't that many that I use but I have been looking to get this product for ages and after finally purchasing it, it will forever be in my life.
A long while back, I asked a girl that I followed on tumblr (can't find her page anymore), who had the loveliest long hair, for some tips on how she kept her hair in good condition and this is a product she recommended to me. Now, I never use heat protectors which is bad but I am glad I got round to purchasing this. I used it in my hair yesterday when straightening it and I seriously don't know what I was doing without it before. It straightened my hair so much nicer and left it feeling soft and moisturised. I'm trying to use heat protecter now because I want my hair to grow a bit more before I cut the ends. This product I highly recommend for girls with afro type hair as it is quite oily. It smells like olive oil and only cost me £3.99 which is worth it for how it leaves my hair afterwards.
